Well I may not know anything about the TV Show that the movie is a parody of, but its another hilarious romp starring the deadpan Leslie Nielsen filled with plenty of other movie parodies that aren’t unlike his other film “Airplane”! Frank Drebin, a rather clueless police detective, tries to foil a plot to turn innocent people into assassins through mind control. After his partner, Norberg, is shot, Frank sets out to find the culprit, leading him to business tycoon Vincent Ludwig. However, Frank has no evidence until he meets Jane Spencer, Ludwig’s assistant. She knows nothing about Ludwig’s devious plans, but falls for Frank and agrees to help him. The film stars Leslie Nielsen as the bumbling police lieutenant Frank Drebin. The film also stars Priscilla Presley, Ricardo Montalbán, George Kennedy, and O. J. Simpson. The movie features fast-paced slapstick comedy, including many visual and verbal puns and gags. The buffoonery of Leslie Nielsen is what drives this comedy and most of it still holds up pretty well today along with the cute romance he has with his leading lady Priscilla Presley. And considering the fact that this is PG-13 they still get away with plenty of sexual jokes you would think would be better suited for an R-Rated flick. We also get plenty of gags from “The Juice” himself before all that stuff that happened to him afterwards. And not to mention the memorable intro where a POV Police Car drives through inconceivable locations. Overall if you ever wanted to see a good parody film, this would be it!
