There’s no doubting that Will Smith was at the top of his game in the 90’s and if you want further proof of that check out this science fiction comedy classic! They are the best-kept secret in the universe. Working for a highly funded yet unofficial government agency, Kay (Tommy Lee Jones) and Jay (Will Smith) are the Men in Black, providers of immigration services and regulators of all things alien on Earth. While investigating a series of unregistered close encounters, the MIB agents uncover the deadly plot of an intergalactic terrorist who is on a mission to assassinate two ambassadors from opposing galaxies currently in residence in New York City. It’s worth noting that the Marvel Comic series that its based on is much darker, so its a good thing they went with the source material in a much more comedic route. I enjoyed this movie for its witty sophisticated humor, plot, thematic profundity, action scenes, Jones and Smith’s performances, directing, special effects and Danny Elfman’s musical score. Will Smith’s charisma and Tommy Lee Jones dry wit bounce off each other well. Also Vincent D’Onofrio makes for a perfect over the top alien villain. “Here Come the Men in Black”!
