Way before “My Hero Academia” made stories about superheroes a thing, this underrated Disney flick came around and it was pretty much a mash-up of “X-Men” meets “Harry Potter” which exceeded expectations! At a school in the sky where teens learn how to be superheroes, Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano) lands in a class for students who show special promise. Classmate Gwen (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) quickly cozies up to Will, but it’s soon clear that she has other motives. When he learns that Gwen’s mother is a villain who was defeated by his father, Steve Stronghold (Kurt Russell), Will realizes that Gwen is aiming for revenge, and he rushes to a school dance in the hope of stopping her. The movie is kind of average, but I just can’t get enough whenever I watch it and wished I attended a superhero school. The movie also has some plot twists such as who the villain is, which is kind of obvious. This is one of the few non-comic book superhero flicks I can watch over and over again!
