Yabba, Dabba, Doo! Meet the live-action incarnation of the modern stone age family which begs the question: is the movie any good at all!? In this live-action feature of the cartoon show, Fred Flintstone finally gets the job he’s always wanted, but it may just come at a price. The film stars John Goodman as Fred Flintstone (a stroke of genius), Rick Moranis as Barney Rubble (he’s fantastic), Elizabeth Perkins as Wilma Flintstone (she’s alright), and Rosie O’Donnell as Betty Rubble (what were they thinking!), along with Kyle MacLachlan as a villainous executive-vice president of Fred’s company (to dorky), Halle Berry as his seductive secretary (he’s so fine) and Elizabeth Taylor (in her final theatrical film appearance), as Pearl Slaghoople, Wilma’s mother (all wrong for the role). The biggest problem about the movie is its story is too adult and mature for the kiddies; however I thought the costumes, sets and visuals were perfect. A bland recommendation for fans of the classic animated series!
